5 Ways to Grow Your Instagram Following
Want to grow your Instagram? Looking for ways that attract new followers? Here is it! Getting 2x, 5x, or 10x growth results with these steps doesn’t happen overnight… It requires you to stay consistent and make these steps a regular action. But if you are happy with followers you have and want to monetize your account read this 5 Ways to Make Money on Instagram.
On average, Instagram users share “more than 95 million photos and videos every single day” according to Reuters.
1. Quality Photos
The important thing to remember is this: Instagram is a totally visual platform. And, the more visually appealing your photos are, the better they’ll engage your followers.
Learning how to take incredible shots using your camera or just a phone is the best way to stand out and build a strong presence on Instagram. It is better to post 1 really good photo than 10 bad. First thing is too learn rule of thirds.
The rule of thirds proposes that an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally spaced horizontal lines and two equally spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections. Read my tutorial about The Rule of Thirds.
The theory is that if you place points of interest in the intersections or along the lines that your photo becomes more balanced and will enable a viewer of the image to interact with it more naturally.
Here’s the truth: It’s tough to take beautiful Instagram photos on the fly. Getting those jaw-dropping snapshots involves a little bit of luck, yes, but there’s also plenty of planning and preparation involved. But keep trying and learning and you will have a lot of nice shots!
Don’t forget to edit your photo after and adjust the color. Here are some examples with editing tricks.
2. Color Theme
The colors in your feed = your color palette = your look
Almost all the beautiful Instagram accounts stick to a color palette. Read my article about importance of color theme.
Sometimes you might not even notice it. It might be one color that pops in some photos, here and there, throughout the feed. Yet that one color makes the whole feed flow. Sometimes it is a combination of multiple colors that create an entire vibe.
Make well-written captions with meaningful content. Ask yourself why would anyone want to read your text? It must give your visitors some useful information: describe the place, share your thoughts and try to end with some question asking your follower.
A post with at least one hashtag averages 12.6% more engagement than posts without a hashtag. So it really is worth using hashtags to grow you account!
Every post you create can be accompanied by an Instagram caption and a few hashtags (up to 30), and these hashtags help in the process of discovery of your content.
5. Be Social
The truth is, the way to win on social media is to actually be social, you need to participate and engage with people who have the same interests as you. Answer on comment ans well as go to others profiles and write comments there.
The number of Instagram followers you have means nothing if you can’t build a community of like-minded people who care and engage. The only real way to do this from scratch is to become part of the conversation.
There’s a difference between crafting a meaningful comment that shows you want to be a part of the larger conversation vs. leaving a comment of three emoji hearts and then bouncing…
If you see someone in the comments who has a question and you know how to respond, answer. If you love the post and admire the aesthetic, say so! If you have thoughts about the quote or the copy in their post, reply!
If the image reminds you of another content creator, tag them. If you think a friend would benefit from seeing it, share it with them.
Comment, like, engage, respond, share. These are the simple and easy ways! You can test by tagging me in the caption and see how it works. Write my name @adventurerinyou to tag me in the caption. (Don’t forget to add some meaningful text to describe your photo and up to 30 hashtags!)
Your Instagram growth won’t happen unless you put in the time and effort daily and continuously improve upon your efforts. A year from now, imagine your account at 2x, 10x, 100x growth and what that could mean for you..
